On the 22nd of January, a delegation from Samidoun Belgium (including members of Samidoun Brussels and Charleroi pour la Palestine) met with Georges Ibrahim Abdallah in the offices of the Lebanese Communist Party in Tripoli. It was the first time several members of Samidoun, who had been campaigning for Georges's release from his 41-year long imprisonment, were able to meet him in person. In the meeting, George spoke about the political situation in the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance to the Zionist Entity, and the need for the revolutionary left to take a more prominent role in this resistance while exploring new forms of internationalism that connects the struggle in Europe, with the Arab world. Most importantly, he stressed that the left has a responsibility to unite the masses and wage a class struggle against Arab reactionaries and European fascists. A mobilisation that would not only reject the advances of international capitalism under U.S imperialism, but also bring about the downfall of the Zionist Entity. By the end of the meeting, the delegation gifted Georges with a t-shirt depicting Faris Odeh throwing a rock at a Zionist tank during the first intifada with the line "The Camps Spark the Intifada" (المُخيمات شُعلة الأنتفاضة). The t-shirt had been prepared by the delegation to respond to the continued hardships in the 12 Palestinian refugee camps within Lebanon, and recent changes that includes increased control of the camps by closing of roads and limiting checkpoints, and the changing of UNRWA's educational curriculum to erase the history and geography of Palestine. Upon seeing the t-shirt, Georges expressed his agreement and reiterated his support for the camps, that remain the revolutionary cradle of the Palestinian revolution! Georges a vaincu Palestine vaincra!
